Personal Development
I have started listening to Podcasts. It has given me so much more to think about and ponder, where I am usually disgruntled with my semi-mundane days. I listen to a lot of TED Talks, Psychology Podcasts, Coaching Podcasts... and I'm only scratching the surface.
I go for a walk, put in the earbuds, and start a new Podcast. This is such an inspiring, intriguing and precious way to start to my day. It'll be good when Benny's knee has healed and he can come with me too. I want to write a little in this blog after each walk to cool down, chill out, recap and try retain more information. So - if I wake up at 5am, get out of the house by 525am, walk til 615am, blog and eat til 7am, then get in the shower. Heaps of time! If I'm to be awake at 5am, I need to be in bed by 830am and asleep by 9pm. Oooooohkay, that will take a bit to get used to. We'll trial things and revamp if necessary.
I am really loving Brene Brown's talks, and want to buy her books. This morning I listened to the first of a Coaching Podcast channel where they talked about Conversational IQ. One neat thing I picked up from it, was the feature lady talked about when she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, and lived through it. She saw an energy healer who told her to name her stomach, pancreas and liver, and talk to them - so she did. She spoke to her cells everyday and the tumor shrank more at each visit. So, I'm going to try naming my fat and speak to it kindly every day, like I would speak to a child or a scared person, perhaps. I might name my excess peripheral Venus, and gently talk to her every day, reassuring her that everything's OK.
On Wednesday, I may have realized my "dream job", my calling in life. I had been in training the start of this week and talking to the trainer Cathy about podcasts, along with this other course I'm doing for Training and Assessment. She told me a bit about Coaching and the executive course she took and said how amazing it was. As she was talking, I realized how this parallels with so many things in my life that I want, love and have. I want freedom a flexibility of not being chained to a desk, the ability to work anywhere in the world, and to do something that nurtures my soul. I love helping people achieve their dreams, overcome hurdles in life, break apart destructive or hobbling thought patterns, and studying psychological and sociological behaviors. I have already a natural ability with people, a calm demeanor, genuine interest in helping others, and good insight into my own situation, past present and future.
My game plan? Smash out TAE course, and try sell this course to my boss to try get work to pay for it. I could be a really valuable asset to them with this Coaching experience behind me, in regards to coaching their low-motivation consultants to achieve what they want out of life. From there, I can use this to extend into working with organizations and/or individuals to help them road map their life and achieve what they want to achieve.
Keeping my eye on the prize, y'all.
